The brief for this project involved designing a healthcare clinic within a heritage listed building. My project was titled ‘The Wellness Centre’, which was designed as a women’s only outpatient prescription drug rehabilitation clinic.

 

The concept for this project derived from both the psychological and physical journey of recovery that each women embarks upon within and outside of the facility. Their ‘journey’ becomes not only a symbolic representation of their experiences, but is also shown within their physical and spiritual recovery. The idea of journey has been translated into the spatial layout and design form throughout the recovery centre. The aim of the clinic’s design was to facilitate a calming and stress-free environment, with a warm and less-institutional atmosphere.
